| Actual quote from Allen Iverson: "The greatest gift I ever gave for Christmas was...to homeless kids...because...uh...without me...there would be no Christmas"
Merry Christmas, ya'll...and remember, the NBA cares...

| ...baseball is officially over.
Congratulations, Red Sox. A well-assembled team from top-to-bottom--solid free agents and great talent from the farm. Well done. Good luck sleeping tonight, Bostonians.
I want mine. Sometime in my lifetime, please? Please?? PLEASE???

| If I had one of the below on my plate in a given week, maybe it'd be okay. All of the below, well, I guess that's exactly what THIS week is.
1. HOME ALONE WITH JUST ME AND MR. FLU
I haven't had so much physical pain since I dropped a wooden bookshelf piece on my big toe. But I went to bed with my entire body aching on Tuesday and "woke up" (considering I got no sleep that night) with flu symptoms. Considering how I've convinced myself that every school day is, I popped a pair of Tylenol in my mouth and pushed through a full-day of work. The Tylenol wore off by 6th period and I was started to get the chills. One student commented to another about my condition saying, "Awww...he looks so sad...I want to give him a hug." Kids are cute...but it doesn't take away the pain. I slept for 14 hours that next day...but I'd have to say, being really, really sick and living alone is TOUGH! Aren't we all used to mom and dad taking good care of us when we were kids? And then when I got to college, good friends were always around with kind words, cooked meals and care packages. For the first time, I was completely exhausted, in pain, and no one was around to bring me water, cook me some jook, wash my germ-infested clothing/blankets, put a wet towel on my feverish head, and convince me that I was out of my mind to go to work on Thursday. And speaking of which, I did. At least I took this morning off (of proctoring a 2-hour final exam--which, of course, I went to school to pick up this afternoon and stayed until the evening grading). The funny thing is, this week's Bible Study for Young Adult group is, suffering!
2. I HAVE A DATE TONIGHT WITH 210 SHORT ANSWER ESSAYS
Yup. 210. I had a plan where I was going to get about half of them done yesterday, and half tonight and have the grades in on Saturday. However, Mr. Flu got in the way, so I've been steaming through these things as fast as I can. Praise God that He's given me energy tonight...I feel much, much better than this morning's, "should I throw up now and get it over with?" conversation inside my head.
3. TEACHING A.P. WORLD HISTORY FOR THE FIRST TIME, FIRST THING MONDAY
So for the first time in a year, I have to make curricula from scratch...which is freaking me out right now because I remember how much work it was the first time, and comparing to how much work I'm putting in just simply revising my current curricula...I'm freaking out. Which is why I'm in such a rush to get all these Finals graded, so I can have the weekend to start on AP World.
4. ITS THE WORLD SERIES!
Beckett's mastery! Schilling's last game! Snow during the Series! Tulo's and Pedroias! Matsuzaka, Matsui and Okajima! Papelbon YMCAing! Manny being Manny! YOOOOOOOOOOK! We need a Holliday! It's the baseball World Series, for crying out loud! I have to watch, right?!
So what I take with me this week is simply this:
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (II Corinthians 12:9)
